For Research
Focus on your research questions, not infrastructure:
- Autonomous conversational robots ready to deploy
- Create different characters with parameters tailored to your study
- Pepper is a standard platform in HRI labs worldwide
- Iterate quickly—update characters in the web editor, no redeployment needed
LAPSCO Psychology Lab, Clermont-Ferrand
LAPSCO is a social psychology lab equipped for experiments with robots, VR, and other interactive technologies. Psychology students run studies where people interact with Pepper under various conditions.
Before RoboHearts AI, setting up a natural conversation required either custom development or wizard-of-oz control. They have now used RoboHearts AI (and its predecessor) for several years.
Before: Wizard-of-Oz setup
- Another student had to operate the robot full-time
- Interactions were limited to preset phrases or manual typing
- Topics were constrained and less natural
- Someone had to be present for every single session
After: RoboHearts AI
- Robot operates autonomously
- Discusses any topic naturally
- Students run experiments independently
- More realistic conversational scenarios
- No need to hire developers or operators
Easy personality switching for experimental conditions
Students swap between friendly, hostile, or distant Pepper characters with a couple of clicks. The Character Editor makes it simple to configure exactly the condition a study requires.
Research Applications
Human-Robot Interaction Studies
RoboHearts AI gives you a working conversational baseline so you can focus on what you want to measure—proxemics, turn-taking, personality perception, or long-term interaction. Pepper is a standard platform in HRI research, and we have supported workshops at HRI Summer School 2023, RoboCup 2024, and IEEE Humanoids 2025.
Psychology Experiments
Use robots as conversation partners, easily defining different personalities for each condition. If you need more control or custom behaviours, we’re happy to collaborate.
Education Research
Deploy robots in classrooms to study how they support learning or how students perceive AI. Switch between characters instantly to test different scenarios without reprogramming.
Let's collaborate
We love speaking with teams working on HRI, psychology of communication, and education research. Share what you're exploring—we might build something together.
